Is anyone planning on seeing any shows this year?

Comedy Festival You can check out the program on their site.

In the past I’ve seen Ross Noble, The Boosh, Andy McLelland, Dave Hughes, Lano & Woodley, Henry Rollins, Rich Hall, and others I can’t recall.

Quite a lot now that I look at it!

So, does anyone have any recommendations?

There is so much I love about yum cha. The bustling atmosphere which ensures you can have a good chat. Debating which dishes are the best. I love sinking down cup after cup of oolong tea (never jasmine for me) and trying to fit in one more dumpling.

Bedouin Kitchen

4 out of 5

The Bedouin Kitchen is a wonderful local restaurant to have. The warm service is complemented by a welcoming decor of rich red walls and metal lanterns casting a soft yellow light through the room. There is plenty of atmosphere for a romantic dinner.

There is a medium sized room at the entrance, a smallish one a bit further back, then a covered outdoor section. On the Saturday I visited, the place was bustling.

To save on decisions, our table opted for the banquet. At only $35 a head, with a vegetarian option, everyone was pleased. The field mushrooms with fetta were a standout. A cucumber and dill salad was refreshing. Plenty of bread was provided for eating with the babaganoush, hommus, beetroot and chilli dips. A chicken, broadbean and rice dish served in a claypot was another winner. By the time the roast pumpkin came out - on a bed of rocket with a tahini based sauce - we were already filling up! There were a few other dishes too, we lost track of courses.

For dessert (not included in the banquet), I was served a generous portion of sweet semolina cake covered in flaked almonds and an orange syrup. Others sampled the banana baked in embers, and Turkish delight.

There was a well-rounded wine list, at fair prices. For something more exotic, try the thick black coffees or mint tea.

You can book some time out back to try smoking with the hookah water pipe, with four flavours available.

We had a great time and will be back!

new years resolutions

In an effort to make my new years resolutions a bit interesting, this year I’m trying to ensure that when I shop, I consider the sustainability of what I’m buying. Whether it’s the packaging, energy required to get it to me, or materials which the product is made from - I want to be more informed.

Tom's Shoes are cute.A while back I found out about Tom’s Shoes from Treehugger.

These shoes are made free from animal products, and for every pair sold another pair goes to a child in need. I often find that products on that site are not available in Australia yet. Then, last week, I saw these in a store in the city!

So, I’m really interested in hearing about other people’s resolutions for 2007, and how they’re going so far!
